  1. My "first" that I will never forget is going on my first wildlife release. With the help of friends I won a contest for Woodlands Wildlife Refuge and the prize was attending the release of black bears back to the wild. This took place in the summer of 2009 which made it even more special, since that is the year we graduated from RU. Seeing those bears run back into the woods for the first time was an incredible experience that not many people are lucky enough to witness. It made me feel like this is absolutely what I needed to do with my life and that all those years of college (5 to be exact) mattered for something!

  2. I would say that my favorite "first", and it was not easy choosing one over all else, would be my first trip out of the country. I traveled to Mexico's Pacific Coast. Within this first came even more firsts. The trip to Mexico led to my first deep sea fishing trip (were not talking 10 pound fluke or even 30 pound stripers) were I went fishing for marlin (swordfish). We caught barracuda, Mahi Mahi (dolphin fish), and I personally was lucky enough hook onto a 150+ pound marlin. My trip led to my first experience in scuba diving (which instantly hooked me). I also went horseback riding for the first time. My trip to mexico definitely was my favorite "first".

  3. Hmm my "first" that was a really cool experience, is traveling to Germany by myself. It was a very stressful process getting there (flight cancellations, seat unavailability...) and then maneuvering through the airport in Germany and getting on the right train was all very new to me BUT it really was a liberating feeling knowing I could do it. Then of course I got picked up by my grandma at the train station by her house and I got spoiled non stop from there, yay!

  4. I had a "first" this year regarding my father we were told on March 1, 2011 that he was diagnosed with nacrosis of the brain and would have less than a year to live. As the room spinned and my knees got weak flashbacks of my childhood with my father came to mind. Knowing that he has yet to walk me down the aisle filled my eyes with tears. Suddenly I appreacited my parents and family more than before and im very blessed to see them every chance I get.

  5. My favorite first was my first solo trip to Colorado. It was the first time being without anyone I knew and at first I hated it. I wanted to go home a week after I got there but then things changed and I made such good friends and did such interesting things. My life changed forever. I worry that opportunities like that are far and few.
